5. AECOM

AECOM (which trades as ACM) is an infrastructure consulting firm created in 2012 that provides engineering services for planning, designing, and managing construction projects for organizations, businesses, and governments. According to some data, this company applied its skills to support recovery from the hurricane season of 2018, which brought it $20.2 billion in revenue.

Between 2005 and 2019, the global infrastructure provider also received more than $300 million from the federal government for its technical support toward recovery following Hurricane Katrina. But that’s not all. In 2020, the company was accused by the Department of Justice of filing false claims on behalf of applicants for public assistance grant funds.

6. Lowe’s

During the 2018 hurricane season, this home improvement retailer (which trades as LOW and has more than 300,000 employees in over 2,100 stores nationwide) earned around $71.3 billion. With earnings like that, it’s less impressive that, following hurricanes maria and Harvey, the company pledged more than $2.4 million in disaster assistance for affected areas in Texas, Louisiana, and Puerto Rico.

Not only did Lowe’s sell a high amount of hardware and building materials ahead of the 2018 hurricane, but it also had additional increases in sales after the natural disaster.

7. Drone Hopper

Drone Hopper is a Spanish engineering company based in Madrid that designs, manufactures, and operates self-guided drones. The company’s heavy-duty drones are a high-tech solution that provides aerial support for natural disasters like hurricanes and wildfires. Drones are increasingly being used in disaster response and recovery since they can be deployed over hotspot areas aiding emergency services. With the increasing demand, it has been reported that Drone Hopper’s earnings have increased as well.
