Helpful tips to relieve some common side effects
If you’ve recently gotten the shot or are about to, there are some helpful tips to keep in mind in order to get over this bump in the road.
If your arm is in pain or starting to swell up in the area you got the vaccine, to relieve it:
- Apply a clean and cool, wet washcloth over the affected area
- Keep your arm moving
- If possible, get some rest
If you have e a fever, to reduce any discomfort:
- Drink lots of fluids
- Wear comfortable clothes
- Speak with your doctor about taking over-the-counter medicine, like aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or antihistamines
Note: It isn’t recommended to take any of these medications before you get vaccinated to try and prevent any unpleasant side effects because it isn’t yet very well known how over-the-counter medicines would affect the effectiveness of the vaccine.
