1. Margarita Islands

The gorgeous Margarita Islands are located off the coast of Venezuela, a country notorious for having a high percentage of criminal activity. If you ever visit this island, make sure you know where you’re going and pay attention to your belongings.

Locals know how tourists typically behave, so it’s always a smart idea to do your research before traveling there. Pay attention, because these islands are known for drug trafficking, murders, and kidnappings.

These islands look like Hawaii, and I’m pretty sure that the amazing landscapes will take your breath away! However, stay on your toes, because you can never know!

2. Roatan

If you ever go on a cruise to Roatan Island off the coast of Honduras, you’ll be amazed by the clear waters, stunning underwater life, and breathtaking landscapes. It’s one of the most popular ports of call for cruise ships thanks to its beautiful beaches and scuba diving opportunities.

Unfortunately, Honduras has one of the highest murder rates worldwide. Even if there’s less crime on the islands off the shore, tourists are still advised to be careful when they explore the island. There are numerous robberies, crimes, break-ins, and even murders on Roatan, so take care.

3. Quintana Roo

Quintana Roo is a famous cruise ship stop in Mexico and is like a little paradise for tourists. Many gorgeous places, such as Quintana Roo, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel, are known for being victims of violent crimes.

Sources say that some people on these islands engage in drug trade and organized crime, so tourists have to be extra careful when they visit these stunning places.

4. Acajulta

Acajulta is another popular cruise port and is located in El Salvador. It boasts a breathtaking landscape, and if you ever go there, you have to visit the Mayan ruins, which are tucked away in the dense jungle.

Unfortunately, as pretty as this place is, it also happens to be in a nation that is currently regarded as the global center of murder. While this port is safer than in other countries, you can still be a victim of robbery, so stay on your toes.

5. Izmit

Izmit is a wonderful cruise port in Turkey, and while it might not be as popular as other locations in the world, it is still gorgeous and attracts a sizeable number of travelers.

There are many things you could do here, such as walk around the city, enjoy some of the most exquisite shopping sprees, and try some delicious foods and teas.

However, be careful with the people you’re interacting with during your stay, because the problem in this region is the rise in terrorists boarding cruise ships to go to other countries, such as Syria and Iraq.

6. Cartagena

We’re almost done with these dangerous cruise ports, but we can’t end today’s article without saying a few words about Cartagena. Thanks to its fascinating history, amazing food, and incredible shopping, Cartagena is one of Colombia’s most popular travel destinations.

Only 256 miles from the Panama Canal, Cartagena is a significant harbor for cruise ship tourists and commercial shipping and is situated on the Caribbean coast.

Even though there aren’t many crimes in beautiful Cartagena, this gorgeous city is known for its major drug trafficking problems, especially cocaine transportation.
