According to a recent report made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the firearm homicide rate in the U.S. increased by 35 percent from 2019 to 2020. All the counties that are known to have greater poverty levels noticed the largest increase in firearm homicides, as the report shows.
In 2020, there were around 45,222 gun-related deaths in America, which amounts to 124 people dying from a gun-related injury every day, and the highest number of gun-related deaths that was ever recorded in the United States, as the CDC states.
Data showed that states with stricter gun laws, like California, Hawaii, New York, and Massachusetts, usually experience lower firearm mortality rates. Also, it has been discovered that higher rates of mass shootings were registered in states with higher rates of gun ownership. Find out more on the next page!
