When it comes to dangerous parts of cities, there is not one town that does not have a part of it that the residents consider “the bad side” of the town! After all, there are parts of the city that everyone is weary of, even if they do live in those neighborhoods. However, when we are looking at New York City, the percentage of dangerous neighborhoods is higher, given the sheer size of the town!
And while some are just historically known to be places to avoid, there are neighborhoods that you definitely have to steer clear of that you may not have heard about. It is never a good idea to stumble into an ill-fated neighborhood, and when you take into consideration the high chance of becoming a victim in these parts, it is even better that you are in the know if you plan to visit or even move to NYC!
Keeping in mind that the national crime average rate is 6.52 per 100,000 people and the state average is around 364 per 100,000 people, let’s take a look at the most dangerous NYC neighborhoods where the crime rate definitely exceeds these averages!
