You’ve probably heard by now that there were sudden and unexplained gas leaks in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines running from Russia to Germany. Well, this unfortunate event prompted multiple investigations by European countries into the matter, as everyone is talking about the possibility of sabotage.
Denmark’s armed forces released a video on social media that showed bubbles rushing to the surface of the Baltic Sea above the pipelines, stating that the largest gas leak provoked surface disturbances miles away.
An energy standoff immediately halted flows through Nord Stream 1, preventing the imminent onset of flows through the parallel Nord Stream 2. Everyone says that this could be the biggest environmental disaster in a very long time, so it’s only natural to want to know a bit more about the potential mass destruction of such an event.
