2003 was a horrible year for Iran. A terrible earthquake hit the country, and approximately 40,500 people died. The earthquake started in the early hours of the morning, at 5:46 AM local time, on December 26, 2003, and it took place in Bam and in Kerman province of southeastern Iran.

According to the USA Geological Survey, the earthquake was approximated to be 6.6 degrees, and it caused 26,271 deaths, plus 30,000 injured victims. Even so, some people believe that the death toll was around 43,000. This earthquake is definitely one of the most difficult in the history of Iran.
