7. Smallpox
Smallpox is a dangerous infection caused by a virus called variola. It was really contagious, and people who were infected with it had a fever and a skin rash that kept growing.
Even though the majority of people recovered from this, 3 out of 10 patients died. There are many survivors who now have permanent scars throughout their bodies, especially on their faces. In the United States, the last natural outbreak of this disease happened in 1949, and the invention of the vaccine helped the world’s population get rid of this disease.

I had polio in buffalo ny in sept 1939 , ,i am still here and 90 yrs old. was admitted to buffalo city hospital which changed at that time to Myers Memorial which is now ( i think) ECMC,I was in the hospital for 5 years straight–polio (iron lung) had TB-tuburqlosis and I am still here ,thank the dear lord and my nurses and doctors
