- Water for Salinas: a hurricane Maria recovery story – Back in 2017, the town of Salinas, Puerto Rica, was completely cut off from potable water, right after Hurricane Maria completely devastated the island. The people from Endeavors Puerto Rico worked day and night to acquire the needed water cisterns that would later collect, filter, and pump fresh rain water into residents’ houses.
- Hurricane Harvey recovery success in Hardin county – Right after Hurricane Harvey completely flooded more than 5,000 homes in Hardin County, Texas, the ones from Endeavors DCM Brandy Ruben decided to step up and started building a collaboration with local recovery effort leaders, advocating for the residents that were affected by the storm.
- One employee’s mission is to rehouse Puerto Ricans in need – Recruiting 2,800 volunteers and securing more than $8 million in building materials in order to rebuild the homes destroyed by Hurricane Maria was definitely not on the list of Endeavors’ Program Manager Carlos Cubero. However, he did it anyway, because he knew he had to do something. As a result, a staggering number of 2,000 homes got repaired, and many other lives were restored.
- Rebuilding after Harvey – Nadine Ford was already suffering from many major medical conditions and a fixed income, so you can only imagine the way she was left in dire straits right after Hurricane Harvey completely destroyed her home. However, the people from Endeavors DCM managed to build her a brand new home.
- The steady process of Hurricane recovery – 2020 marked the year of the third anniversary of Hurricanes Harvey and Maria, so it was required to take a step back and start reflecting on all the people who were able to help through those horrendous times. We’re talking here about lost pets in Port Arthur, TX, and families that were left with nothing, with many children that were dependent on respiratory machines, and all the stories that stand as a proof that amazing things can happen when the community is united for the same cause.
