Volcano Eruption In The Philippines

On January 12th in Luzon, rumbling could be heard from the Philippines second most active volcano, the Taal Volcano. The residents of Luzon had not seen it erupt in 43 years, so with over four decades of building up, it finally released the pressure and erupted sending ash dust over 100 km away. The huge ash cloud left in the wake of the eruption saw over 300,000 people being evacuated.

By the time Feb 13th arrived, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a total of 2,484 volcano-tectonic earthquakes in the vicinity of the volcano, 176 of which were felt. Even now, the Philippines are still reeling from the devastating impact of the eruption with the help of much needed foreign aid.
