4. Flight 19
Another infamous incident, this time involving a plane, was the Flight 19. Five of the US Navy’s finest Avenger Bombers disappeared without a trace on the night of December 5, 1945, while on a regular mission.
Lieutenant Charles Taylor, the captain, was in frequent contact with the station until his transmission went out in the middle of a sentence. There was no interrupted signal, but the connection simply went out. Since then, we have no information in regards to the planes and what happened.
To make matters worse, the rescue group sent to retrieve the planes never arrived. When their frequency went out in the middle of a statement, the rescue team disappeared in a similar method. The case was concluded with the designation ’cause unknown’ after years of inquiry.
