4. Lake McDonald, Glacier National Park – Montana
Lying at an elevation of 3,153 feet (961 m) and located just inside the park’s west entrance, Lake McDonald is the largest lake in Glacier National Park. It is arguably one of the most scenic parks in the country. This lake itself is famous for the colorful rocks that rest at the bottom, but be sure NOT to take any home as it’s actually against the law to do so.
Apart from offering visitors incredible views of snowcapped peaks, still water, and vibrant skyline, its skyline comes even more alive when the sunset’s here. What makes it even more remarkable is that you essentially get two sunsets as the colors from the evening are reflected in the lake’s still waters.
