7. Zodiac Killer
Another very famous serial murderer is the Zodiac Killer. Between 1960 and 1970, he murdered five people that we know of, but the number is likely to be way higher. Most of his victims were couples from areas near San Francisco.
He used to be very present in the media due to his relationship with it. Soon after his first murder, the Zodiac Killer started sending coded letters to multiple newspapers to provoke the police. He has his own symbol that he used to sign them with, which is a circle with a plus sign over it. One famous letter contained 13 encoded symbols that the police assumed represented his name, but they couldn’t crack the code.
Even though the police had a few suspects, they couldn’t find his actual identity to this day.
