The measles virus is a very contagious airborne disease that can be easily spread through sneezing, coughs, and contact with nasal secretions. Symptoms usually appear 10โ12 days after the exposure, and they can last up to 7โ10 days.
A red, blotchy rash caused by measles typically starts on the face and behind the ears, then moves down to the chest and back, and finally spreads to the feet. It is considered to be a childhood infection, and although it’s quite common to get it, it can be prevented with the help of a vaccine. This disease was eradicated from the United States in 2016 thanks to a vaccine developed by scientists.
