8. Cholera
Cholera is a deadly disease that occurs when individuals consume water that is contaminated with infected fecal matter. Given the poor sanitation conditions, citizens from third-world countries have an increased risk of developing this.
If this disease is not treated quickly, an infected patient can die in only a few hours after the symptoms have appeared. The most well-known symptoms are dehydration, vomiting, and diarrhea, and they usually begin between 2 hours and 5 days after exposure to the contaminated water. Thanks to the improvement in sanitary conditions, plenty of countries have seen a massive decline in cases.
