Marburg Hemorrhagic Fever
Marburg virus is related to the Ebola virus as both of them belong to the same family. It’s worth noticing that the Marburg virus also belongs to the Class-A bioweapons agents category, which means it can be turned into a weapon after being isolated from African fruits bats.
The Soviet Union was the one who weaponized this virus turning it into an aerosol form. Its mortality rate could reach a high percentage of 90%.
Fortunately, in 2014, a team consisting of the CDC, USAMRIID, and other pharmacological labs collaborated to develop a drug that was meant to protect primates and guinea pigs from this virus. The whole process was aimed at stopping the Marburg virus from spreading inside its host.
