Local officials in Tampa, Miami, but also in Fort Lauderdale have gathered their forces to distribute free sandbags, to help the residents protect their homes from flooding. Meteorologists declared that flash flooding might be possible by Tuesday, especially in the Florida peninsula, and the Florida Keys, given that the hurricane approaches at a rapid pace.
The White House also made its own emergency declaration, which will only help federal and state officials co-ordinate the disaster relief and assistance. Federal officials have also prepared millions of meals and liters of water in Florida, but also in neighboring Alabama.
