2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami
Definitely, one of the deadliest earthquakes, with a magnitude of 9 MW, followed by just as deadly a tsunami that happened on December 26 in the Indian Ocean, very close to Indonesia. The events occurred at 00:53 UTC. The earthquake ejected energy that equals 23,000 atom bombs from Hiroshima.
The epicenter was beneath the ocean, so it aggressively shook up the Indian Ocean, which only led to destructive waves that were meters high. It is thought that this particular tsunami caused the deaths of more than 230,000 individuals from 14 different countries.
This event is one of the worst natural disasters in recorded history. Of all the nations, Indonesia was the one to suffer the most, alongside Sri Lanka, Thailand, and India.
