Lituya Bay, Alaskaย
The third tsunami that took place in Lituya Bay happened on October 27th, 1936, and it hit the gulf with a maximum run-up height of 490 feet in Crillon Inlet, at the bay’s head.
There aren’t a lot of records about this tsunami, but according to a few sources, all four of the witnesses who claimed they saw the huge wave in Lituya Bay lived. There were 2,000 feet of inland space on the bay’s north shore that were the most vulnerable to flooding, but nothing deadly happened. The experts believe that the tsunami was brought on by a landslide, and we are happy that everyone was okay.
