Highland Park is one of them. Located about six miles southwest of downtown Detroit, this small town is home to 10,810 people. Unfortunately for them, the place where they live is considered one of the most dangerous places in America.
The violent crime rate here averages 173.91 per 10,000 residents, while the property crime rate averages 279.37 per 10,000 residents. Add close proximity to Detroit to the picture, and you’ll understand why Highland Park isn’t the kind of place to wander around, especially when the sun goes down.
