3. Bullhead City, Arizona

Located on the Colorado River in Mohave County, Arizona, this small community is about 90 miles south of Las Vegas, Nevada, and directly across the Colorado River from Laughlin, Nevada. Originally founded as a settlement called Hardyville in 1864, but after the decline in the price of silver and the town’s mill stopped producing, the town failed. With the construction of Davis Dam between 1942 and 1953, Hardyville would be reborn as Bullhead City.

Apart from the reasonably priced homes and cost of living, this city would be ideal for the more active seniors as it offers hundreds of acres of city-operated parks, bike trails, a public swimming pool, and a disc golf course. There is also excellent fishing in the Colorado River.

Total population: 39,824
Median list price: $260,000
Percentage of population 65 and older: 29.2%

you are hooked on Florida with its high humidity and high temperatures, what gives, payola???

  2. After 38 years we left Florida and moved to South Carolina were life is much more affordable and people are nicer. I think this article needs an update.

  3. Several of these places in FL were negatively affected by Hurricane Ian. Not sure they are that good of a place to live right now.
