7. Gerald Ford
The 38th president of the United States faced two assassination attempts within weeks in 1975 but was never hurt.
On the first attempt, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, a disciple of Charles Manson, forced her way through a mob on the street, pulled out a semi-automatic pistol, and aimed it at Ford as he was traveling to Sacramento for a meeting with the governor of California. The politician was lucky because the gun didn’t fire. She was sentenced to prison and released in 2009.
Around two weeks later, Sara Jane Moore, a different lady, met Ford in front of a San Francisco hotel. She fired once but missed. When she tried the second time, she was stopped by a spectator who grabbed her arm. She was sent to prison too, and she was released in 2007.
