Tornado Alley!

You have probably heard the name being used, but if you do not live in the area that has earned this nickname, you will probably not truly realize why they ended up with this title. Obviously, it is not an actual alley, but rather the nickname encompasses all the states where tornadoes are normal occurrences. Generally speaking, it starts somewhere in the southern plains and goes up to the northern parts of the country, even reaching up to the Canadian border.

The states that are most commonly associated with Tornado Alley are Kansas, Texas, and Nebraska, but truth be told, they are not the only ones that will be hit with tornadoes. It can happen anywhere in the country, but these are just some of the states that ended up being associated with tornadoes.

It is all dependent on the weather and the season we are currently going through. Thus, in the cold months, you can see some tornadoes in the Southeast, while the risk increases in the spring in the central and southern parts of the country. In summer, the Midwest and northern plains are the areas most at risk of tornadoes.

Despite Tornado Alley being cited as a tornado hotspot, some of the states that experience the most tornadoes every year are not included!
