#2 How to Survive a Plane Crash
Two of the 45 people that boarded Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 on Friday the 13th, October 1972, were Nando Parrado and Roberto Canessa. They were members of the Uruguayan rugby squad traveling to Chile to play. Because of low visibility, the aircraft crashed into an Andean mountain peak. Most of those passengers perished in the disaster, and the ones who were still alive were left behind. They were dehydrated, and it was freezing cold since they were at a high altitude.
They were forced to consume the lifeless passengers as the days passed without any food. Nando and Roberto were exhausted from waiting for assistance for 60 days. While beginning their ascent down the mountain, they eventually located assistance. Rescue personnel arrived at the collision site. Of the 45 passengers, just 16 were still alive. They do not regret what they did since they had no other hope of surviving. They realized what they must do, and they did it.
