Snowpocalypse in Southeast, January 2014
As they were rather ill-prepared for typical winter weather, Gulf Coast and Southeastern states all the way from Louisiana to Virginia had to witness many inches of snow, ranging from 1 inch in Pensacola, Florida, up to 10 inches in Virginia Beach. Even if no more than 2 inches fell in the Atlanta metro area, it blocked thousands of commuters, causing over 1,500 accidents, 175 injuries, and one death, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
