3. Georgetown Loop Railroad, Colorado

Located in the huge mountains of Colorado, the Georgetown Loop Railroad is a four and a half mile long stretch of track that takes passengers 640 feet up into the mountains through amazingly beautiful but unsafe terrain. The Georgetown Loop Railroad, a wonder of engineering and one of the most magnificent railway lines in the world, was initially constructed in the late 19th century to provide access to the silver mines.

However, after it was closed for more than fifty years during the 20th century, the road was opened to the public, and now, annually, thousands of tourists are coming here to see how “bumpy” this road is!
