The Italian Hall disaster

On December 24, 1913, right on Christmas Eve, some miners and their families were celebrating in Michigan. Everything was going smoothly until somebody from the building yelled “Fire!” and panic took control of everybody inside, and all the people rushed to the exit. Of course, it didn’t matter who they knocked down as long as they were out of the building as soon as possible. Unfortunately, people fell and were suffocated in the crowd, and 59 of the people who died that night were kids.

It turned out that there wasn’t any fire at all, which was a horrible and ironic twist. Nobody knows who shouted “fire” or why they did it until this day.
