3. Switch to LEDs
You might already be thinking that you are doing your bit when it comes to the light bulbs you are using as you have already switched from the old incandescent bulbs to energy efficient and longer lasting compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). The only problem is CFLs are extremely difficult to dispose of as they contain mercury.
We suggest you go for light-emitting diode bulbs (LEDs) not only are they way more energy efficient because they emit light in a very narrow band wavelength, but they last a very long time. For example, your standard incandescent bulb can last some 1,000 hours, whereas LEDs can last 25,000.
