3. Firestone tires
It was 2000 when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concluded that there were hundreds of injuries and car accidents and 46 deaths linked to faulty tires produced by Bridgestone/ Firestone, Inc. Because of this, a few days later, the company had to recall more than 6.5 million tires.
The tire tread tended to peel away, resulting in a high failure rate. When tires fail, vehicles, especially SUVs and trucks, roll over. And this is exactly what happened in this case. As a result, Ford, which was also a part of this, had to recall 13 million tires on its SUVs and pickup trucks, which made the company lose $3 billion.
After all of the things that have happened, the Firestone brand managed to survive, but its 100-year association with Ford was broken.
