Turbulent Tornadoes in Oklahoma City Area, 2013

Even if, technically, Oklahoma is familiar with tornadoes, a huge EF5 tornado completely ripped through some parts of Newcastle, Moore, but also southern Oklahoma City on May 20, 2013. It killed over 24 people, damaged more than 300 homes, and became one of the most expensive tornadoes Oklahoma ever had, with an estimated $2 billion in damages.

Only eleven days later, a 2.6-mile EF5 tornado, which was the widest one on record in America, killed 8 people in El Reno, Oklahoma.
