2001 Gujarat Earthquake
Gujarat earthquake had between 7.6 and 7.7 degrees, and it occurred very early in the morning on the 26th of January 2001 (around 3:30 AM on local time). The earthquake lasted over 2 minutes. Almost 19,727 individuals were killed, and 167,000 had been injured.
The destruction of property and homes was enormous, as 400,000 homes were suddenly converted into rubble. Lots of historic locations and tourist spots were completely destroyed. In fact, the entire property damage was estimated at $5.5 billion dollars.
The earthquake also had a horrible effect on some regions of Bangladesh, and around 20,500 individuals were killed in the disaster.
