3. Looking for Mr. Goodbar
Inspired by the actual events that happened to New York City schoolteacher Roseann Quinn in 1973, and based on Judith Rossner’s 1975 best-seller, Looking for Mr. Goodbar was written and directed by Richard Brooks while he was well into his sixties.
While Brooks seems to show disdain for his lead character and the critics where not kind to his direction and adaptation of the story, the performance by Diane Keaton as Theresa Dunn goes above and beyond the written text. She plays a young woman desperate to escape her repressive Polish-Irish Catholic upbringing by finding excitement and companionship in the city’s seedy singles bars.

Absolutely one of the best and most frightening movies I have ever watched.
Loved every second of it.
