Alaska’s Kuskulana Bridge is now known as a “thrill ride”
The Kuskulana Bridge rises 238 feet above the river that has the same name in Alaska. It’s also known as one of the most dangerous “thrill rides” in America. The bridge takes off over the treetops, which makes many feel unsettled, especially those who suffer from a fear of heights. The narrow roads overlook rushing rapids.
Pulaski Skyway is basically New Jersey’s “Death Highway”
The Pulaski Skyway is probably one of the most beautiful bridges you’ll see in New Jersey, but it’s also one of the most dangerous. It has no less than 11-foot lanes on each of its sides, with a very small breakdown lane right in the middle.
Also, it has no shoulders. This narrow drive is also called “the death highway”. The bridge is 3.5 miles long and 135 feet above the Passaic and Hackensack rivers. There are more than 67,000 vehicles that cross it every day, and as you can imagine, many of them like to speed while crossing it. It was built in 1930, and it has seen too many crashes since then.
Deception Pass Bridge in Washington is too narrow to feel comfortable
The Deception Pass Bridge is meant to connect Whidbey Island to Fidalgo Island in Washington. It is 180 feet above the water, crossing over a small island in the middle. Even if it’s terribly beautiful, the Deception Pass has no more than two lanes and a three-foot-wide pedestrian walkway.
More than 15,000 cross it on a daily basis. Just to make things worse, the area is super foggy. If anyone would fall off of it, they would land in strong tides up to ten miles per hour.
The Rainbow Bridge in Texas gets confused with a roller coaster
Even if Texas is filled with dangerous bridges, probably the most horrifying of them all is the Rainbow Bridge on Texas Highway 73. It has a steep ascent and descent, and it resembles more a roller coaster than a simple bridge.
If you are afraid of heights, you might want to be careful while driving over it. The Bridge is 230 feet high, and it has 20 stories above the Neches River. It only has two lanes, so drivers don’t have any room for error. You can see the bridge from miles away, which makes it even more daunting.
