4. Watch

Another one of these valuable and shocking artifacts that were found in the Titanic wreckage was a pocket watch that belonged to one of the people who lost their lives on that tragic night of April 1912.

As different sources said, the rusty watch used to belong to passenger John Chapman, who was on that trip with his beloved wife Lizzie. What’s unique about this item is the fact that it’s literally frozen in time. The watch is stuck at 1:45 a.m., which is roughly the time the ship became captive underwater.

5. Music sheet

We’ve previously talked about the violin that was found on the Titanic, but another thing related to music that was found on the ship was a music sheet. Even though it was stuck in the ocean for a couple of decades, brave divers discovered a piece of sheet music for the fantastic song “Put Your Arms Around Me, Honey”.

The song is a popular one from the 1910 Broadway production of Madame Sherry, and sources say that it was played by the wrecked musicians on the sinking Titanic. Since it was discovered, the music sheet has been on display at plenty of Titanic exhibits.

6. Perfume oils

The last artifact on our list of things found on the Titanic was perfume oil. Adolphe Saalfeld was a German-born chemist who had a satchel full of different perfume bottle samples on him when he boarded the ship.

He was a first-class passenger, and his intention was to open his own fragrance shop in America, but unfortunately, his dream couldn’t be realized.

Sources say that after the oils were recovered from the ship, they still emitted some incredible scents. It seems like each glass vial contained a special scent that was identified by a label attached to the vial. Isn’t that incredible? Those oils were so strong that they emitted some gorgeous scents even after decades of being underwater.

  1. Titanic still lives with us today, even those who point fingers to blame, the impossible became possible , when you challenge the God above you will lose every time, the Holy one put that ship on the bottom of the ocean for everyone to see & he done it with the act of nature,,,,,
    BELIEVE<<<<<<<

  2. Pretty Damn amazing ! Truly unbelievable.
    Such a mighty ship.
You would have thought they would have had some kind of “Headlights ” or “Searchlights ” mounted on the front of the ship for Night Travel.. Makes sense to me.
Can’t think of everything. What a horrible night ! Can’t imagine the fear in the perishing passengers.

  3. Very interesting facts!
What is most suprising were the perfume oils that lasted after years of being in the water! Nice article, but such an unfortunate outcome for so many people. Even after all these years including the more recent tragic deaths that resulted from the Titan submerge, there is just something about the Titanic that continues to keep drawing us in….it was such a beautiful, majestic ship, and there will never be another like it.

    1. The movies A Night to Remember (1958) & TITANIC have done much to draw in people who are so enthralled with this historic disaster.

  4. Alison Leigh Abbott

This was very interesting. My son and I, especially my son, has been fascinated with the Titanic since he heard about it. Depicted, of course, by the movie. He was 7 when we saw that movie. Today, he is 35 and he has models, books, and several other items pertaining to this ship of this era. I will tell him about it.

  5. Great and intriguing article and I was riveted! Wow, the violin which played Nearer My God To Thee in particular blew my mind! Thanks for this! ๐Ÿ‘

How wonderful to know and learn about these pieces of History. They should always be told and our future generations need to continue passing on all this.

  7. Iโ€™ve always been intrigued by the Titanic. The first time I watched the first movie I was hooked. But it also scared me to death. Then when I went on my first cruise I was also hooked & have been cruising ever since. Love the story & now the 6 things they found are amazing.

  8. These discoveries were certainly amazing. Having seen the movie when it came out, I had to read this article to learn the details that were actually discovered in later years. Thank you for publishing this!
