It was 2000 when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concluded that there were hundreds of injuries and car accidents and 46 deaths linked to faulty tires produced by Bridgestone/ Firestone, Inc. Because of this, a few days later, the company had to recall more than 6.5 million tires.

The tire tread tended to peel away, resulting in a high failure rate. When tires fail, vehicles, especially SUVs and trucks, roll over. And this is exactly what happened in this case. As a result, Ford, which was also a part of this, had to recall 13 million tires on its SUVs and pickup trucks, which made the company lose $3 billion.

After all of the things that have happened, the Firestone brand managed to survive, but its 100-year association with Ford was broken.
