1. Rosemary’s Baby

Written and directed by Roman Polanski, this 1968 American psychological horror classic has long been the benchmark for movies involving Satanic cults. Based on the 1967 novel of the same name by Ira Levin. This groundbreaking horror film would ‘spawn’ a slew of films focusing on Satan worshippers and black magic, but none could even come close to this terrifying original.

It tells the story of a young, innocent, and pregnant Rosemary (played superbly by Mia Farrow) as she begins to suspect that not only might the elderly residents of the iconic Dakota Apartments she recently moved in to have dark and ritualistic plans for her baby, but her husband could somehow be involved.
