Top 3 States With The Most Tornadoes

Coming in at number 3, we have the nation’s sweet home, Alabama. The jump from number 4 to 3 is very big; since last year, they have dealt with about 117 tornadoes, with three recorded deaths. With 50 more tornadoes than Minnesota, this state is no stranger when it comes to this natural phenomenon. Back in 2011, the state experienced the second-most destructive tornado in the history of the U.S., with $9.7 billion in recorded property damages.

Second place is taken by the Lone Star State. Texas should not be any surprise to anyone that they are making an appearance on this list since the state is known to be full of tornadoes. Last year, they had to deal with 160 tornadoes, but they are thankful there were no casualties.

Number 1 when it comes to the state with the most tornadoes is Mississippi! Does it surprise you? The answer should be yes. We have talked about staggering increases in the number of tornadoes; this state is also one of those states. Comparing it to two years ago, when they recorded 92 tornadoes, last year the state had to deal with 184 tornadoes! The number doubled, and it is scary to think about. Thankfully, despite a large number of tornadoes, only one person has lost their life due to them.
