7 Dead Celebs from Plane and Helicopter Crashes

1. John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy

The young Kennedy couple was one of the most appreciated relationships across America due to their simple and beautiful love. The photographs they were in together showed them holding hands and kissing, and soon people were admiring their elegant romance.

Unfortunately, they died together on the same day, along with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s sister, Lauren, while they were on a helicopter, flying to Martha’s Vineyard. When their jet failed to land on schedule, it was declared lost.

Everyone was shocked when the news broke, and search efforts were immediately launched. By July 19th, 1999, the plane’s wreckage had been located in the Atlantic, and 2 days later, all 3 remains had been recovered.

There are many more than these that have lost their lives in aircraft accidents. John Denver, Alliyah, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc.

    1. I totally agree. There are more than seven celebrities who lost their lives via aircraft accidents. There should have more in-depth research done before submitting this article.

    2. I guess we have to remember the etceteras who lost their lives though most of the time wasn’t their fault at the time of their tragic demise, and should have been listed.

  2. I think when people become rich and famous, they had to think more seriously about their lives. When an average person dies, the family and friends will miss them. But when Celebrities die the whole world will miss them.

  3. Who on earth wrote this? “they died together on the same day, along with Carolyn Bessette Kennedyโ€™s sister, Lauren, while they were on a helicopter, flying to Marthaโ€™s Vineyard. When their jet failed to land on schedule, it was declared lost.” Nothing but factually incorrect word salad.

  4. Trouble with helicopters is they have no wings. If the engine goes wrong the ‘Copter becomes a flying brick. This sort of flying machine should be fitted with a large parachute that could float the machine down. Also needed is a device that emits a signal for a long time so the wreck can be found. I am scared stiff of flying and prefer to keep to a bicycle.

  5. It was not a helicopter
It was Johnโ€™s single engine piper airplane
    Do your research first
    Spatial disorientation cause of crash

  6. Don’t you have a fact checker for an article like this?
#1. JFK. Jr was flying a single engine Piper Saratoga when her encountered IFR (instrument flying conditions, (which he was not trained or qualified for)
#2 Jenni Rivera was, indeed, flying a Lear 25
#3 Cory Lidle was flying a single engine Cirrus SR20, not a jet, when he crashed into a Manhattan skyscraper
#4 Troy Gentry was, indeed, flying in a helicopter when it crashed
#5 Roberto Clemente was killed in the crash of a DC7 airliner.
#6 Joe and Gwen Lara were killed in the crash of their Cessna Citation 501 jet.
You missed many other notables, i.e:
Glen Miller died in 1944 when the single engine miliary Norseman he was in crashed enroute from England to France.
Buddy Holley, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper died in the crash of a single engine Beechcraft. Rickie Nelson died in the crash of his DC3.
Patsy Cline died in the crash of a single engine Piper Comanche.
Jim Reeves died in the crash of a single engine Beechcraft Debonaire.
Otis Redding died in the crash of a BE-18 Twin Beechcraft.
Jim Croce died in the crash of a BE-18 Twin Beechcraft in1973.
Lynyrd Skynyrd died in the crash of a Convair CV240 in1977.
Stevie Ray Vaughn died in the crash of a Bell 206 Helicopter in 1990.
Reba McIntire’s band members died in the crash of a Hawker Jet in 1991.
John Denver died in the crash of his newly purchased, single engine homebuilt, Long EZ in 1997
Aaliyahh died in the crash of her chartered Cessna twin engine 402 in 2001.
And, last year, NBA star Kobe Bryant was killed in the crash of his chartered Sikorsky S-76B helicopter.
The majority of these crashes were in piston powered aircraft. Helicopters accounted for 3 fatalities and three were in jets.

A very poorly written article. It also leaves out many important celebrities. I kept thinking Ricky Nelson would have been in there and many others. Ugh!

  8. she was a nut case & control freak. Uncle Teddy and RFK Jr. said nothing after Hitlery Rotten Clinton had them all three killed in that plane. party thicker than blood? THAT is the mark of a true communist/socialist, dead a cation

  9. Martin Versteeg Knifechief

While I am sorry that we lost these wonderful people, I must say this so-called list needs to be expanded greatly as we lost many, many people to aircraft crashes, people much more famous than the ones on your list . I urge anyone interested to look it up as there are too many to list here!

  10. Michael Waskom

Big time mistakes in this article. Right off the bat with the first crash, with the Kennedy’s. They were flying in a plane, that Kennedy was not totally certified on. Not a helicopter, as indicated in the article. The second crash, you initially said that she had just finished doing a concert in New Mexico. The story all of a sudden changes, and says she is in Mexico. Where the heck was she? ๐Ÿ˜…

  11. This is a VERY poorly researched article. Some of our greatest stars were omitted — and who ever heard about the Laras.?!! Otis Redding, Alliyah, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Carole Lombard, Richie Valens, Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Jim Croce, John Denver, and members of the Bar-Kays and Lynrd Skynrd bands all died in aircraft accidents.

  12. Nothing like forgetting Buddy Holly in 1959!! The most Famous! Along with Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson. “The Big Bopper”

  13. Phyllis Nelson

How can you not include Jim Croce on this list?
He was more famous than a couple of these other people.

  14. Richard Smessaert

First you say that Jenni Rivera was killed in a helicopter and then you say she was killed a Lear Jet airplane. Which was it?

  15. Wow! Do you people even know the difference between a helicopter and a jet? The first 2 articles say they were in a helicopter, but when it crashed, it was a plane or a Lear Jet. Does anyone proof read this stuff?

  16. This article is so poorly written. It seems that none of this was proofread before submitting it. I find that to be the case with almost all stories on this site. Also there are many much bigger celebrities who have not been mentioned. The last entry in this article does not have the names of the people who died.

  17. Kennedy was piloting a single engine prop plane when he got caught in some fog and crashed.
    No helicopter. No jet.

  18. You’re right they are just people, that think they are special. They aren’t , the ripper doesn’t care who you are, when your time is up it’s up.

  19. Where are you getting your information from? JFK Jr., his wife and his sister-in-law did not die in a helicopter or a jet. They died when the single engine plane JFK Jr. was piloting went down in the Atlantic.

Unfortunately, they died together on the same day, along with Carolyn Bessette Kennedyโ€™s sister, Lauren, while they were on a helicopter, flying to Marthaโ€™s Vineyard. When their jet failed to land on schedule, it was declared lost.

  20. You start storing about 7 movie stars getting killed, then don’t finish telling us about it. What a bunch of phoney ass holes you are. Get off my phone///””””##=รทร—+]][()

  21. .Whoever wrote this was an idiot, it was a helicopter, no, it was a plane! It was a helicopter, no, it was a Learjet! It crashed in New Mexico, no, it crashed near Monterey, MEXICO, a whole different country! Sorry, but go back to school!

    1. Yep. When Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens (La Bamba) died, they called it โ€œThe Day The Music Diedโ€.
It was a famous plane crash. They teens who just saw them perform and the teens who were expecting them to tour to their city all crying.
Canโ€™t believe the writer missed that one!

  22. ROBERT J. VOGT SR.

You did not have Kobe Bryant., his daughter and others on their way to a game , John Denver, Rick Nelson, John Kennedy made a fatal mistake flying his plane when he did not know enough knowledge to fly it yet and is was a plane not a helicopter . Race car driver Kiel Petty’s son, Bobby Allison’s son and Rick Hendricks only son, just to name a few.

    1. Kobe Bryant got himself and his ย daughter killed after the FAA grounded the flight do to bad weather intense fog the pilot can’t see anything and don’t know how to read the instruments ย Kobe Bryant wired an extra $25,000 to the pilot after he was told that the FAA ordered the flight canceled ย

  23. Does anyone proofread? Was it a helicopter or Learjet? I stopped reading here, because I can’t believe anything written on this page.

  24. Derek Christensen

Cory Lidle died in a single Piston-Engine Cirrus SR20 general aviation airplane, not a โ€œjetโ€ and it was when he and his certified flight instructor, Tyler Stanger, crashed into a building during a 180 degree turn, in windy conditions, attempting to avoid flight into restricted airspace.

  25. Hitlery Rotten Clinton had him “taken out”. Uncle Teddy and RFK Jr. said nothing about it, after the fact? I guess the demon-rat party loyalty is thicker than blood. THAT is so sad. Only a socialist (or yankee) would think that way.

  26. Uncle Ted and RFK Jr. said nothing about Hitlery Rotten Clinton having JFK Jr., his wife and sister in law killed. The plane was recovered from the depth of 124 feet by Navy divers. You never saw a picture of it, because it didn’t have a tail anymore. Would be easy to see evidence of an explosion, but no one cares.

  27. Aaliyah, Kobe Bryant, Otis Redding.
In the 60s, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens (La Bamba), and The Big Bopper died in a plane crash trying to get to their next tour gig. They called it โ€œThe Day The Music Diedโ€.
They were the hot young stars of that time that teens listed to. The teens waiting to go see them were devastated.
You guys forgot the most famous crash!

  28. On December 31, 1985, Nelson died when the Douglas DC-3 on which he was a passenger crashed into trees, poles, and electrical wires, when it attempted to make an emergency landing while in flight between Guntersville, Alabama, and Dallas, Texas, where he was to perform a New Year’s Eve concert.

  29. You excluded Rick Nelson, buddy holly and Richie valets, Aaliyah, Thurman Munson, Kobe Bryant, Audie Murphy and will Rogers
