The first thing you should do is make sure the threat is gone for sure. Keep listening to local authorities for further updates and see if you can go outside. Make sure it’s safe to leave your shelter and see is the tornado warnings are lifted, since multiple tornadoes can occur in a single day.

To avoid inhaling dust, it’s recommended to cover your mouth. Next, be aware of the fallen power lines or other damaged things, especially buildings. Do not enter a building that suffered the consequences of a tornado, unless first responders claim them as safe.

If your home or building you are in is out of power, you should use flashlights instead of candles to avoid an accidental fire.
