6. North Fort Meyers, Florida
Located in northern Lee County, northwest across the Caloosahatchee River from Fort Myers proper and bordered to the west by the county’s largest city, Cape Coral. Starting life as a collection of settlements brought to life by pioneers drawn to the heavily wooded wilderness north of the Caloosahatchee.
By the 1900’s it only had a population of just 50 and grew itself from there. It has gained a reputation for being a friendly rural community with a higher than average retiree population and sees itself as an ever-growing business community.
