Australian Bushfires

As the clocks of 2019 ticked over into 2020, most of the world was ringing in the new year, with renewed hopes and dreams for the following 12 months (if they only knew…..), that is unless you happen to be living in certain parts of Australia. While most Australian’s would usually be firing up the barbecue at this time of year, many were fighting the bushfires that were ravishing the country.

What started in December 2019, would turn into one of the most destructive natural disasters to hit Australia in recent years. According to the Medical Journey of Australia, the catastrophic bushfires burned an estimated 18.6 million hectares, destroyed over 5,900 buildings, and killed at least 34 people, while over 400 people were killed due to the effects of smoke inhalation.
