We could have an article about just the earthquakes that hit the world this year with Turkey, The Caribbean, China, Iran, Russia, Philippines & India all seeing their nations impacted by earthquakes. The most devastating by magnitude was the July 2020 Alaska Peninsula earthquake, which registered a 7.8 magnitude. As for most devastating with regards to loss of life, that unwanted title goes to the October 30 Aegean Sea earthquake which claimed the lives of 119 people.
And while the total number of earthquakes worldwide can in at 13,654, 121 of those quakes registered higher than a 6.0 magnitude. However, there is some good news as 2020 is the first year since 2016 with no magnitude 8.0+ earthquakes. Long may that continue.
