Floods In India, Japan & China

Anyone who lives in Asia will be more than used to the annual monsoon season, however, 2020 was a usually heavy one that triggered major flooding across China and India in particular, costing an estimated $32bn and $10bn respectively. Sadly for the inhabitants of the areas affected, this rain would continue throughout June, July, August and September.

The heavier than usual downpour caused major disruption, displacement and loss of life, and once again highlighted the importance of national meteorological and hydrological services in protecting public safety. Like with the storms in Europe, meteorological experts believe the monsoons will also get worse as the temperatures rise.
