Kฤซlauea, Hawaii

A lot of people aren’t paying that much attention to the Kilauea volcano since it is the youngest one on the island of Hawai’i. Yet, given just how active it has been since it was formed, more people should be taking it into consideration.

Despite not being around for hundreds of thousands of years like other volcanoes in our country, this one holds the most titles: the world’s most active and the United States’ most dangerous volcano. Since 1952, Kilauea has erupted dozens of times, and between 1989 and 2018, there has been almost nonstop activity from this volcano.

To add to what makes it so dangerous, for ten years until 2018, there was a lava pond formed on the summit, which gave off a horrible gas plume. After an eruption that started in December 2020, the pond formed again since it took until May 2021 for the eruption to settle.

Nowadays, Kilauea is known not only for its long eruption cycles but also as a dangerous spot in the state of Hawaii. Despite this, there are still people who think it is funny to attempt to brave the summit of this active and dangerous volcano!
