4. Kabul – Afghanistan

Located in the eastern section of the country, Kabul is the largest city of Afghanistan. Who built it and when remains largely unknown, but most scholars agree it has existed for more than 3,500 years. The first possible mention comes from an ancient Indian text known as the Rigveda, which describes a settlement called Kubha near the Kabul River. The text refers to Kubha as an “ideal city” and a vision of paradise set in the mountains.

By the 16th century, that was definitely the case as the Mughal Empire made the city world-famous for its pleasure gardens, bazaars, and palaces. Between the 18th and 20th centuries, the ruling Saduza’i and Muhammadza’i would transform the city into a thriving capital city. The city saw conflict over the centuries, but it wouldn’t be until the late 1930s that the city would lose its beauty as it would pass through British, Soviet, Taliban, and American hands over the intervening decades.

These pics show man’s inhumanity. ‘Humanity’s inhumanity’! There will never be peace on earth…so stop saying it in your Christmas cards. It’s a joke.
